Just when you thought it was over, lol, more pics, we went on a surprise trip to halab and Raqqah (pronounced ra'aa in syrian, thought you might want to know, knowledge is power…ooh digression digression…. -- yeah wasn't much of a surprise really -- but I found out at the last second so after pullin a couple of strings got to go, alhamduilalh…was an experience, one I really thank God for. Just a day or two earlier I had my second, third molar taken out! PAAAAIN, I've never felt but this time it was much better then the first time, so I decided to go despite the pain (yes, I'm very proud of my strength and bravery as well :P )--- I reiterate it was awesooome…two day trip! It takes about 4-5hrs to halab and then another 3-4 to Raqqah, give or take an hour. Speaking of raqqah, my Grandfather from my mothers side is married to a syrian from raqqah, his fifth wife, but whose coutin…haha
Anyway, I'll comment on the trip through the pictures…

Someoneeee is having fun while we're locked here between 4 walls wondering if tomorrow is going to be -38 degree or a sunny day
of -35 c.....hmm a surprise trip you said...I wonder where would Uni here bring us for a surprise trip,hmmm...to the canal?...
I see the first pic a green tombe, but you did not mention who's tombe is that? And what about the blue dome masjid?...nice place..
haha,
lol, i miss the canal! but nah i wouldn't trade it for this.. haha lol, the green tomb is of 'Ammar bin Yasser, i think i mentioned it in the comments-- so is the blue dome its his shrine... stupid comments system, its a bit buggy, try turnin it off, and then back on again...that might work...
n a question 4 you, who are mr/mrs. anonymous? your pretty prolific i have to hand it to ya...haha
Oh so its Ammar ibn Yasser's tomb, interesting...I did not know he was buried in Syria...nice, we're learning some new stuff from your trip pics...so I guess its ok if we have only the canal here..we still have bro M Ailan's blog ha..
As for your question, hmm its me H.H, I just did'nt sign my last comment...so do you know me now?
Hint: Definitely NoT a "mr"...
lol, oh heya salams, H.H. :) cool, yeah it was Ammar bin Yasser' and many other martyrs there too --- it was the area where the battle of Siffeen took place between Imam Ali(as) and Mu'awyia :)
peace
I see..I was just wondering , do they give you tareekh al islam now? If yes, how many hours per week? and what's the book you're using?.
I do remember a while ago you posted that your group went to Syria for arabic lessons, but I'm curious to know if they're giving you only arabic lessons? or are they including some 3aqa'id,history,fiqih? quran tafseer?
H.H
no, not right now, but i did study Islamic History during my BA degree in London, and a little bit more at the hawza-- but the focus in Syria is primarily arabic, its helping a lot but i'd love to stay one more year (at least when i'm thinkin of benefiting from my studies here) and at the same time can't wait to goooooo back! i miss ottawa and its lovely canal :P haha
humm yeah, they are giving us arabic lessons, but i've requested some other suplementary lessons on Hadith studies, other students have also requested what interests them. n dats' dat in syria.
peace
